'Midnight Movie' Poster and stills

'At a run down theater in a sleepy suburban town, a group of friends attend the midnight screening of a 1970s cult horror film. These unsuspecting teenagers are unaware that the director and star of the movie made a bloody escape from a psych ward five years earlier and may still be on the loose. As the midnight movie begins, the kids heckle the old black-and-white scenes. But they are jolted when the killer butchers one of their friends…on screen! They soon realize that the killing is not a prank. They are locked inside the theatre and the killer from the movie is after them!' The film is directed by Jack Messitt and stars Rebekah Brandes, Greg Cirulnick, Mandell Maughan, and Daniel Bonjour.

Prostitutes Strangled By Journalist in 'Hades'

Warner Bros. has acquired the John Leake book Entering Hades and has attached Robert Schwentke to direct the adaptation. The book, published late last year by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, is about Jack Unterweger, a journalist who led a double life strangling prostitutes in Vienna and Los Angeles, and covering his own crimes in the early 1990s. Unterweger hanged himself after receiving a life sentence. "Robert, Richard and I want to do a movie that is more than a dark serial killer story," Cooper said. "This is about the power of celebrity, and what happens when this sociopath goes to Los Angeles, a city that is the prototype for reinvention."

King & Straub's Talisman Adapted for Graphic Novel

Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, announced today the acquisition of the comic book and graphic novel rights to The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub.

The creative team on the project will be announced soon, and the first issue of the monthly comic is planned for late summer/early fall 2009.

Originally published in 1984, The Talisman is the story of a young teen named Jack Sawyer, who can save his dying mother only by retrieving a magical talisman. To find it he must cross back and forth between our world and the frightening and dangerous landscape of its "twinner" counterpart. The hardcover edition, published by Viking, spent 12 weeks in the #1 slot on the New York Times list. Both The Talisman and its sequel, Black House, are in print with Ballantine Books.

Television rights to The Talisman are under development by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy.

"Illustrating The Talisman in the depth that it deserves will involve at least 24 issues of comics, probably more," said Del Rey Editor in Chief, Betsy Mitchell, who acquired the project from agent Ralph Vicinanza. "It's a tremendously visual story, filled with images that burn in memory long after the book has been closed."

King's Dark Tower comics (published through Marvel) consistently inhabit the top of the comic book sales charts, and his recent series, Dark Tower: Long Road Home was the top-selling comic book in North America in March 2008.

The Brøken Trailer

After Dark Horrorfest 3 is quickly approaching and as a result some of the films booked for this years festival are starting to step into the light a little bit. One film booked for ADHF 3 is called The Brøken from Writer/Director Sean Ellis. The trailer has hit the internet and I must say it looks pretty interesting. I did a little searching and found some festival reviews that give me hope for this one being a good Hitchcockian thriller.

The Brøken follows Gina who thinks she sees herself drive past in her own car on a busy street in London. Stunned by this strange event, Gina follows the mystery woman up to her apartment. From here, events take an eerie turn for the worse until Gina's awareness slides from solid reality into a world that will haunt more than just her nightmares. The film stars Lena Heady(300), Richard Jenkins(Burn After Reading), and Ulrich Thompson.

The Unborn New Trailer

MTV has an exclusive look at a new trailer for The Unborn. Writer/director David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, Batman Begins) gives a terrifying glimpse into the life of the undead in The Unborn and follows a young woman pulled into a world of nightmares when a demonic spirit haunts her and threatens everyone she loves.

Starring Odette Yustman, Meagan Good, Cam Gigandet and Gary Oldman, The Unborn is a thrilling tale of one woman’s survival as she fights a family curse and struggles to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.

Uninvited Trailer

IGN scored the trailer for The Uninvited, the PG-13 remake of Kim Jee-Woon's original Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters). If Dreamworks' version, which is directed by Charles and Thomas Guard, is keeping with the original, The Uninvited centers around two sisters (Anna and Alex), both freshly released from a mental ward. Their return to the family home doesn't exactly help mend their state of mind as they deal with not only their loopy mom, but also a pestering spirit.

See Gaiman on 'Graveyard' Tour

Neil Gaiman, the prolific mind behind such novels as American Gods and Anansi Boys, and such comics as Marvel 1602 and Sandman, is touring in support of his new novel The Graveyard Book. With each city he visits, he’ll read a new chapter from his book, and they’re all being filmed! To check the tour schedule, hit up Neil's Tour Section!

Gaiman's new novel, "The Graveyard Book," takes place in a cemetery, where an orphaned boy is raised by a vampire, a werewolf and a witch. The seed for the idea was planted some 25 years ago, Gaiman says, when he was living in his native England and would take his young son Michael to ride his tricycle in a nearby cemetery, since there was no real garden or yard at home.

Inspiration struck. Gaiman thought he could write a book similar to Rudyard Kipling's classic "The Jungle Book," about a child adopted by wild animals. Instead, Gaiman would write about a child "who is adopted by dead people and taught all the things that dead people know."
