Project Origin Adds F.E.A.R.

The software developers of F.E.A.R owned the rights to the characters and world of the original game, whereas publisher Sierra owned the name.

When Monolith was bought by publisher WB Games and with talk of Sierra making its own game under the F.E.A.R. 2 name, Monolith had a competition to name the sequel, and Project Origin was the clear winner.

Sierra's parent company, Vivendi Games, merged with Activision - effectively retiring Sierra. WB Games picked up the rights Sierra held according to IGN. This means they can now brand the game under the F.E.A.R. title. The newly announced release date sees the PC, 360, and PS3 versions all shipping simultaneously on February 10th next year.

The winning competition name is being kept as a subtitle, making the full title of the game now F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
